The name of 424 Church is based on John 4:24.
In the fourth chapter of John’s Gospel, Jesus is conversing with the woman at the well who questioned him about which physical location is the right place to worship God. Jesus responded in verse 21 by saying, “…the time is coming when it will no longer matter whether you worship the Father on this mountain or in Jerusalem.”
As the Messiah, Jesus was signaling a paradigm shift. Yahweh is now seeking true worshippers–those who will worship Him “in spirit and in truth”.
“For God is Spirit, so those who worship him must worship in spirit and in truth.” – John 4:24
This is the basis for 424 Church.
We are not interested in putting on a show of worship. We are not a church that follows the rules and traditions of men. For us, worship is much more than a 30 minute music session on a Sunday morning. To truly worship God means that our lives are surrendered to His purpose alone.
He has raised our dead spirit back to life and given us the Holy Spirit. Because of this, we now worship our Heavenly Father in spirit.
Christ, who is the truth, has made His home in us. We love the truth and turn away from the lies and deception of this world, the flesh, and the devil. In this, we worship our Heavenly Father in truth.
424 Church exists to glorify God through true worship.
